What began as a temporary stop ended up becoming home.
When the homeowners first moved in, they assumed they’d only stay for a few years. But as their family grew and roots deepened, they decided to invest in the house they already loved rather than start over somewhere else. The goal wasn’t simply to renovate. It was to create a forever home that could evolve alongside their family and support the years ahead.
The project involved a complete transformation of the property, including significant maintenance upgrades such as a new roof, plumbing, and electrical systems. A former secondary suite was absorbed into the main home, expanding the family’s living space and creating more room for the kids to grow into their teenage years. Throughout the renovation, there was a strong desire to preserve the character that made the house special in the first place. Originally a mid-century rancher relocated from Upper Lonsdale and placed atop an existing structure, the home had a unique history and a distinct architectural feel. The updates focused on honouring that legacy, retaining the rancher’s relaxed character and Craftsman-inspired details while improving how the home functions for modern family life.
The result is a home that feels both familiar and renewed. More space, better flow, and the infrastructure to support decades of memories still to come.
