Location Gastown
Type Commercial Retail
Fun Fact The main display stand started as a load of 6x6s from the lumber yard.

This Gastown retail space was built around a simple idea: lean into the grit instead of covering it up. Concrete block walls, exposed structure, walnut, and blackened steel all came together to create a space that feels industrial, but still warm enough to spend time in. Nothing feels overly polished. That was the point.

A lot of the project relied on custom fabrication and figuring things out as we went. The axe display, for example, needed custom mounts that could fasten directly into the concrete wall without looking bulky or overbuilt. Even the handrail detailing became part of the design language, combining walnut and steel in a way that felt solid, simple, and honest to the materials.
